"THE ALL-AMERICAN DRIVER CHALLENGE" TEAM WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
DENVER, NC (9/21/2005) - Robbie Ray, current driver of The All-American Driver Challenge (AADC) racecar, took the checkered flag at Anderson (Ind.) Speedway on Sunday to win the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series National Championship. Nationals weekend included two races that took place over a two-day period at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio on Saturday and at Anderson Speedway on Sunday.
"This is the biggest thing that's ever happened to me in my career," said Ray. "This victory and championship mean so much to our family." This is the second championship win for the Davenport, Iowa native who also claimed the 2003 Midwest Series Championship in 2003 before moving to the Carolinas series.
Last year, USAC Carolinas Midget Series promoter, Tracy Trotter, discovered Ray and provided him with a ride in the AADC car for the 2005 season. "The All-American Driver Challenge was created to give one talented driver per year, the opportunity at a career in a professional racing series," said Tracy Trotter, promoter of The All-American Driver Challenge. "We're very proud of Robbie and what he's been able to accomplish this year. He represents the qualities we're looking for in the next All-American Driver."
The AADC is a driver development and search program that is geared toward fostering the best up-and-coming talent for a future career in a professional American racing series. All aspiring racecar drivers between the ages of 15 and 26 are invited to enter the AADC and earn their way to becoming the next American racing hero. Challenge winners will be developed through a predetermined schedule of racing series'. The All-American Driver Challenge is presented by Calico Coatings and other participating sponsors and endorsed by USAC.
