DENVER, NC (5/31/2006) - Qualifying for the second year of "The All-American Driver Challenge" (AADC) officially opens this Thursday, June 1st. The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid contract to drive in the 2007 USAC Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series and a partial schedule in the NASCARĀ® Dodge Weekly Racing Series.
The AADC is a driver development and search program that is geared toward fostering the best up-and-coming talent for a future career in a professional American racing series. Once registered, Challengers will then go to one of our approved go-karting facilities across the country and begin running their qualifying laps. Open qualifying runs from June 1 - Sept 30, 2006.
Here's how the competition works:
- Challenge entrants from 10 regions will submit their best 100-lap go kart average
- Ten Challengers from each regions will be chosen to advance to the semi-finals where they will be judged in the following five (5) areas:
- Driving talent
- Communication skills
- Media presence
- Physical fitness/personal character
- Mental challenge
- The top 10 Challengers will advance to the final round in Hickory, NC.
- An elite panel of racing industry judges will award The All-American Driver Challenge Champion.
"It's anybody's shot, and we're excited about giving a young person a chance at becoming a pro race car driver," says Tracy Trotter, presenting sponsor of The All-American Driver Challenge. "This year's winner, Bradley Riethmeyer, is already winning races and we're excited to see the next group of young drivers who will compete for his spot."
Today there are very few driver development and search programs. The All-American Driver Challenge was developed to find talented young drivers and provide them with a unique opportunity to begin a racing career in USAC. Challenge winners will be developed through a predetermined schedule of racing series'. The All-American Driver Challenge is presented by Calico Coatings and other participating sponsors and endorsed by USAC.
